Poland is located in Central Europe. The capital city, Warsaw, is located almost in the middle of our country.
Poland's temperate climate is transitional between oceanic and continental, similar to the Czech Republic. Poland is a diverse country: most of the area is dominated by lowlands, but in the southern part there are the Tatra Mountains (the highest mountains in Poland) and the Carpathian Mountains in general. In the north, you can visit the Baltic coast. The longest river is the Vistula.
About 1% of Poland's territory is protected as 23 Polish national parks, two of which - Białowieski PN and Bieszczadzki PN - are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are more than 100 areas called landscape parks, with numerous nature reserves and other areas protected under the NATURA 2000 network.
SPECIES
Invasive Alien Species pose the most serious threat to the conservation of biodiversity and as a result, to nature conservation. We will try to detect both invasive and potentially invasive species within the habitats in order to reduce the impacts they may cause. The aim of the project is to gain knowledge about the species composition, abundance and distribution of alien species in Poland.
